Actor Leaves Nicolas Cage’s John Madden Biopic Due to Nude Scene and Reported Racial Slur from Director

Support actors for the upcoming film Madden reportedly withdrew after filming commenced—allegations include the use of racial slurs and demands for full nudity from a white director. However, sources close to Amazon Studios have different insights.

According to cast and crew members, an actor expressed concerns to TMZ that the director had used the N-word during interactions while collaborating with others on Madden.

However, a source from Amazon Studios indicated that it was the actor who suggested including the slur in a scene after a private discussion with the director. Ultimately, it was decided that the N-word would not be included when the scene was filmed.

Studio representatives assert that during the filming, the director did not use the racial slur. They, however, did not speculate on what may have caused distress among present actors and crew.

Additionally, just a day ago, the same actor reportedly shared discomfort about having to appear nude in the movie, as indicated by crew sources to TMZ.

The specific scene in question is set in a locker room, where something occurred that reportedly frustrated the director.

Sources from Amazon Studios mentioned that an intimacy coordinator had attempted to help the actor feel at ease with the scene, proposing various methods of comfort, but the actor still faced challenges.

Studio insiders have pointed out that the nude scene in Madden was not meant to be a surprise, and all parties involved claimed to understand which elements would be shown in the scene.

Furthermore, Amazon Studios expressed a willingness to have the unnamed actor return, suggesting that discussions could potentially lead to a revival of the filming process.

Cast and crew members have indicated to TMZ that overall production on Madden has been marked by “confusion” and internal strife.

Beyond the controversies surrounding the N-word and nudity discomfort, tensions on set are reportedly heightened by the presence of stars Nicolas Cage and Christian Bale, who are recognized as “serious actors.” Yet, studio sources emphasized that nothing inappropriate involving either actor had transpired on set.

The film itself chronicles the life of former NFL head coach John Madden, detailing his transition post-retirement from the Oakland Raiders as he collaborates with a Harvard programmer to reshape his legacy by creating the first football video game.
