Danica Patrick recently shared in an interview that her time with Aaron Rodgers felt “emotionally abusive,” describing the experience in stark terms. She reflected on her self-image during the relationship, commenting that it was hard for people to see her as anything but confident. She noted that it really took a toll on her.
Patrick mentioned, “Yeah, he leaves a bloody mark,” indicating the emotional impact the relationship had on her. She expressed that while her revelations might not shock anyone, they were truths that had been evident to her.
The 43-year-old former athlete acknowledged that she missed many warning signs while they were together. “I ignored it,” she admitted, adding, “I’ve always felt capable of handling tough situations.” It seems her instinct was to push through challenges, perhaps at a cost.
While the details surrounding emotional abuse were shared, there was no immediate response from Rodgers’ representatives when approached for comment.
Patrick and Rodgers had a two-year relationship that ended in July 2020, a breakup confirmed by her representatives at the time.
Describing the pain she experienced, Patrick told host Sage Steele that the end of their relationship was sudden and immensely painful. “When you live with someone, that’s your reality,” she clarified, capturing the weight of her situation.
After their split, Patrick took to social media to engage in what she called “emotional therapy,” focusing on healing through techniques like movement and mindfulness.
Looking back, she reflected to Steele on how the breakup ultimately served as a significant turning point for her. “It gave me the greatest gift of understanding how crucial it is to prioritize and care for myself,” she said, hinting at a newfound appreciation for self-advocacy.
Although the relationship was painful, she seemed to grasp its lessons well. Rodgers, from his side, described their time together as “good” for him, highlighting their individual spiritual journeys.
After their relationship, Rodgers became involved with Shailene Woodley, which also ended in 2022, while Patrick has been linked to her co-founder Carter Comstock, though they too parted ways later that year.
