Denver – It feels more familiar.
After the Yankees let the Rockies enjoy a rare win, a brief reprieve from their dismal 50-game start, reality came crashing back. The score told the tale: 30-20 versus 9-42. During the Yankees’ five-inning stretch of scoring 10 runs, Paul Goldschmidt hit a single to right, just out of reach for Rockies’ second baseman Adael Amador.
The Yankees dominated the Rockies, winning 13-1 in front of 43,186 fans at Coors Field on Saturday afternoon, perhaps signaling a resurgence.
While Goldschmidt stood out, the Yankees’ bats were pretty quiet the previous night. Earlier that day, they recorded their second big scoring outburst of the season. It was a significant turnaround.
Every Yankee who stepped up to the plate recorded at least one hit, with six players achieving multiple hits. Goldschmidt, Cordy Bellinger, Anthony Volpe, and DJ LeMahieu each had three-hit games.
Max Fried had solid offensive backing, pitching efficiently through 7 1/3 innings, allowing just one run on only 83 pitches, further establishing his strong season. He scattered seven hits and one walk, maintaining an impressive ERA of 1.29 in his 11th start.
Looking ahead, the Yankees are gearing up for the rubber match on Sunday, hoping to secure their first series win of the season against the Rockies.
