Revelations on Biden’s Inner Circle and Cognitive Decline
According to Axios political correspondent Alex Thompson, members of former President Joe Biden’s close team may not have been entirely honest when they described him as “sharp,” “focused,” and “detail-oriented.” During an appearance on Fox News Sunday, Thompson, a co-author of the book “Original Sin,” shared insights into the dynamics within the Biden White House, especially as the 2024 election approaches.
Thompson stated, “They didn’t tell the truth. I think the book reveals a lot about what’s happening behind the scenes.” He mentioned how former officials, including Alejandro Mayorkas and Carine Jean-Pierre, have painted a picture of Biden being in complete control, which contrasts with the reality he believes those inside the administration experienced.
Jean-Pierre criticized what she called “cheap fake” videos and accused the media of selective editing, while simultaneously dismissing criticisms from right-leaning commentators. However, Thompson suggested that the atmosphere within the White House tells a different story.
He remarked, “Measures have been taken throughout 2023 and 2024 to keep Biden more sheltered—not just from the public but from members of his own Cabinet as well.” He added that some staff members had left due to dissatisfaction with attempts to manage perceptions regarding the president’s decline.
Thompson also noted that as Biden’s cognitive challenges became increasingly apparent, his performance in a June 2024 debate against Donald Trump would be shocking for many Americans. He pointed out, “I think the Joe Biden seen during that discussion isn’t a new issue; tapes from previous investigations evidence similar behavior.” This book aims to provide a deeper look at the difficulties surrounding Biden’s cognitive functions, tracing them back to his 2020 presidential campaign.
