Understanding Gin
Gin is a distilled drink that is predominantly flavored with juniper berries, which give it a distinct piney and aromatic flavor. Its history dates back centuries in Europe, originating from the distillation of neutral grain spirits blended with juniper and a variety of botanicals, including coriander, angelica root, and citrus peel.
There are several styles of gin available, such as London Dry, Old Tom, and Plymouth gin. Typically, gin has an alcohol content that ranges from 37.5% to 47% ABV, making it an excellent base for many classic cocktails, including the Martini and Gin & Tonic.
