Milton Stegall's son discovered deceased in Chicago dormitory

Tragic Death of DePaul Soccer Player Chase Stegall

Chase Stegall, a 20-year-old member of the DePaul University men’s soccer team, was found dead in a dormitory on the university’s Lincoln Park campus on Monday morning. This shocking news has left the community in mourning.

In a statement issued Monday afternoon, Dewayne Peevy, the Vice President and director of track and field, along with Mark Plotkin, the director, expressed their deep sorrow. “We are heartbroken by the unexpected loss of Chase Stegall, a precious member of our community, a dedicated teammate and kind friend,” they stated.

They further extended their condolences to Chase’s family, friends, and teammates, assuring support during this difficult time. “Our thoughts and prayers are with them. In the coming days, we will be here for Chase’s family and teammates,” they added.

Chase, who was a sophomore, had participated in 16 games this season, even scoring a goal against Drake. Before this season, he had not seen any game action during his freshman year. His positive impact on the team was apparent, and he was well-liked among his peers.

Student-run media have reported that the cause of his death has yet to be disclosed. Chase was the son of Milton Stegall, a notable former wide receiver for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the CFL and a three-year NFL veteran.

Milton Stegall had a distinguished career, being a nine-time CFL All-Star and holding multiple records, including the most career touchdowns. This news not only hits close to home for the family but also for fans and members of the sports community who admired Milton’s achievements on the field.

As tributes pour in, the loss of Chase Stegall is being felt broadly—not just among his teammates but throughout the entire university and beyond.
