Authorities raided a residence linked to one of the escapees from a New Orleans prison, where the individual had posted a video on Instagram claiming his innocence. Antoine Massey, 33, was not present during the raid, according to sources. However, authorities discovered clothing belonging to him at the location. Reports indicate that Massey’s parents recognized the house and alerted police.
In the now-deleted Instagram video, Massey insisted he didn’t escape from prison on May 16 but was, rather, released. He stated, “They say I broke out. I didn’t break out, I was let go,” adding that he was among those who were supposedly released from the Orleans Parish prison.
Massey reached out for assistance from well-known figures, including a prominent rapper and then-President Donald Trump. He expressed his desperation, saying, “I’m looking for help from the world… I couldn’t even afford a lawyer.” In the same video, he denied having threatened a prison maintenance worker, who was allegedly coerced into assisting the escapees.
Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson responded, urging Massey to surrender. “If the individual in the video is certainly Antoine Massey, we encourage him to come forward,” she remarked, emphasizing that cooperating with law enforcement would be in his best interest.
The Louisiana State Police did not confirm the video’s authenticity, citing ongoing investigation protocols. Meanwhile, the FBI has not commented on the matter. Recently, ten men escaped from the Orleans Parish judicial facility through a hole in a cell toilet, avoiding barbed wire fencing in the process.
Over the last few weeks, LSP, along with local and federal partners, has led the manhunt for the escapees, managing to recapture eight individuals. Only two remain at large, including Massey and 28-year-old Derrick Groves, a convicted four-time murderer awaiting sentencing. Massey, facing charges related to domestic abuse and other offenses, has previously fled police custody multiple times.
Massey’s younger sister, 31-year-old Dashanae Massey, has also been arrested in connection to the prison escape. Both Massey and Groves have $50,000 bounties placed on them by various authorities involved in the search.
