Piers Harding-Rolls, an analyst at Ampere Analysis, mentioned that the level of interest among Switch users should lead to considerable adoption early in the system’s life cycle. “Nintendo is better prepared this time,” he added, acknowledging the company’s strategies for managing the anticipated demand.
The pricing for the Switch 2 starts at $499.99, posing a significant test for President Donald Trump’s management of supply chain issues encountered during the trade war.
Last month, Nintendo forecasted sales of 15 million Switch units and 4.5 million Switch 2 units within the current fiscal year. President Shuntaro Furukawa stated that Nintendo aims to enhance production capacity and exceed sales expectations amidst robust demand.

Investor enthusiasm is also high, with Nintendo’s stock trading near its peak, gaining almost 30% this year. However, some concerns linger about whether the Switch 2 can maintain its momentum after early adopters upgrade.
Harding-Rolls pointed out that the variety of launch titles may not be robust enough to satisfy casual users, who may wait to see what future games develop in the next year or two.
Ampere predicts Switch sales could exceed 100 million units by 2030. Meanwhile, “Mario Kart World” hits the market at a retail price of $79.99, igniting discussions about game pricing.
Nintendo continues to expand its library with third-party titles, illustrating its commitment to providing diverse gaming experiences. Takahashi, a salesman in his 40s, believes that the pricing is reasonable, recalling the high costs of earlier gaming systems. He’s particularly eager to explore the action RPG “Elden Ring” on the new Switch 2.
