Scott Jennings puts head in trash symbolizing Republicans' views on the Trump-Musk conflict

CNN commentator Scott Jennings made a dramatic statement on Thursday, pushing his head into a trash bin as a way to express his thoughts on President Donald Trump’s latest clash with Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Although Musk has been a supportive figure for Trump since the 2024 election, his recent comments—referring to Trump’s proposed legislation as a reflection of “X’s nasty hatred”—suggest a break in their alliance.

This sparked a series of exchanges on social media, with Musk alleging that Trump’s name appears in the Jeffrey Epstein Files.

During an appearance on “Leave with Jake Tapper,” Jennings tried to encapsulate the feelings of Republicans amidst this feud.

“Tell me what all Republicans are doing,” Jennings remarked, then proceeded to stick his head into a nearby trash can. “It’s here. My head is in the trash can now. That’s the state of everyone I know now.”

Shifting to a graver tone, he acknowledged the situation, saying, “I’m not going to lie. It’s an ugly day, and you know, you hate it when your friends are fighting. I still believe their partnership saved America last year and that their goals aren’t mutually exclusive.”

He cautioned that Republicans need to unite to advance the objectives of both Trump and Musk, warning that Democrats are “laughing, moving forward” while they are embroiled in conflict.

“Hopefully, cooler heads will prevail swiftly, and the president can push his agenda while Elon can convince Republicans that debt is a serious issue,” Jennings expressed.

Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” is currently under consideration in the Senate, aiming to fund various aspects of his agenda, which includes bolstering border policies and revising overtime and tips regulations.
