Trump’s Plans for Tesla Amid Tensions with Musk
President Donald Trump is reportedly considering selling or distributing a Tesla following a public dispute with Elon Musk, the company’s CEO, according to White House officials on Friday.
The president acquired a red Tesla model from Musk on March 11, which has since been in use by White House staff. He has shown support for Musk previously, even amid protests regarding the government’s handling of electric vehicles, charging stations, and dealerships that have faced destruction.
The Tesla remains parked outside the West Wing. When he made the purchase, Trump remarked that Musk was “treated very unfairly” and insisted he “should not be punished for being a patriot.”
President Trump is certainly considering selling the Tesla he bought from Elon Musk. @RealDailyWire. Musk repeatedly asked me to speak to the president today, but I said that Trump is not going to do so.

The relationship between Trump and Musk has recently soured, particularly after Musk expressed his disapproval of the president’s so-called “big and beautiful bill.” A White House insider hinted to Daily Caller that Musk’s involvement in NASA’s administration was the “last straw,” prompting him to distance himself from Trump.
Some senior sources suggested that House Speaker Mike Johnson be urged to include an electric vehicle tax credit in the bill. Musk critiqued Trump-backed spending packages on X, calling them “nasty hatred,” and implied that Republicans supporting these measures were making a mistake. He also suggested that Trump should be replaced by Vice President J.D. Vance.
During a press conference at the Oval Office on Thursday, Trump expressed disappointment with Musk for what he described as a legal betrayal.
