Democratic Lawmaker’s Threat in Congress Meeting
During a heated congressional hearing on Wednesday, Texas Democrat Greg Casar seemingly directed threats towards witnesses. Daniel Turner, founder of Power The Future, was present to reveal extensive corruption linked to government and left-leaning nonprofits. Turner’s testimony put him in the spotlight after Casar’s intimidating remarks toward a congressional witness.
Turner noted, “Political violence aimed at me isn’t new; however, it was surprising to witness it from Congress members.”
Casar initiated tension by referencing a tragic mass shooting in 2019, where a gunman killed 23 individuals at a Walmart. Following that, he ominously remarked to a witness about the implications of the ongoing situation. When Turner sought clarification, Casar exited the hearing abruptly before discussions could proceed.
Turner expressed his confusion: “We were unable to ask Mr. Casar anything before he hurried out. He linked his comment to the horrific murderer, stating, ‘What’s going to happen?'” He continued, “I’m unsure of the meaning behind that statement. There’s no luxury of Capitol Police to safeguard me. In these environments, threats are all too common.”
In a later interview with “Blaze News,” Turner reiterated some of his frustrations alongside Christopher Bedford, a senior correspondent. He stated, “The eco-left has historically resorted to political violence. It’s a familiar threat, but having it come from Congress is unusual.”
Turner elaborated on Casar’s alarming comments, saying, “He was referencing that horrendous mass murder in San Antonio and then asked, ‘What’s coming next?’ He framed his threat within the plea, ‘we need to stop punishing nonprofits or they could be next.’”
While acknowledging that political violence is something he has faced, Turner pointed out that he typically doesn’t expect it from elected officials. “It struck me as very odd, and I felt it was necessary to address,” he mentioned. Although the hearing was fairly formal, it felt essential to speak up. His reaction, he asserted, was due to the severity of the situation. “I found it haunting and genuinely upsetting,” he remarked, indicating that he hoped for clearer communication from Casar in the future.
