Yearly Libertarian Festival Includes a ‘Clothing-Optional’ Area

Pork Pine Freedom Festival Highlights Unique Libertarian Event

The Pork Pine Freedom Festival, often referred to as “Pork Fest,” is a distinctive Libertarian gathering held in New Hampshire every June. It features a unique “clothing options” area for attendees looking to embrace a lifestyle of “Liberty Living.”

Detailed information can be found on Porcfest’s official map, which outlines five different zones, including one termed the “Friendship Zone of Physical Freedom” (BFFZ). In this zone, participants can engage in various “Clothing Options Activities.”

Some planned events include “Naked Espresso,” “Clothing Options Yoga,” a “24 Hour Clothing Sobriety” Challenge, “Nude Olympics,” as well as mixers for gay and lesbian attendees and “crypto religion services.” The nudity is confined to the BFFZ area and is not allowed in shared spaces, corridors outside of the BFFZ, or general camping sites. Additionally, the festival’s Cultural Code of Conduct emphasizes “parent autonomy” and the idea of “free range children.”

According to the Code of Conduct, “Free range children should be able to meet all basic needs, including food and medical care,” highlighting a somewhat progressive attitude toward child-rearing.

The festival takes place from June 16th to 22nd at Roger’s Campground in Lancaster, New Hampshire, and it’s organized by the Free State Project, a Libertarian advocacy group in the state.

All attendees must sign a waiver, which warns that those bringing minors to the event understand that they might encounter various activities and attire. The waiver clarifies that minors under 18 can only attend if accompanied by their parents or guardians, and there’s a strong emphasis on taking responsibility for what the minors may be exposed to.

Eric Brakey, the executive director of the Free State Project and one of the organizers of the 2025 festival, noted the festival allows participants to form their own groups for a more customized experience. He mentioned that since implementing a physical distancing policy between the Family Zone and the Body Freedom Zone last year, there have been no conflicts.

When questioned about the attendance of minors in the Body Freedom Zone, Brakey stated that all events in that area are intended for individuals aged 18 and older.
