Yankees Dominate Red Sox in Energetic Matchup
The longstanding rivalry between the Yankees and the Red Sox, usually filled with intense moments, has seen a bit of calm lately, particularly as the season kicks off.
On Friday, the only impactful strikes came from the Yankees’ bats, and they didn’t hold back. They hammered Walker Buhler for seven runs in just the first two innings, ultimately sealing a 9-6 win in front of a packed crowd of 46,783 at the stadium.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. was a standout, going 3-for-5 with two steals and a three-run homer that ignited the scoring early on. Meanwhile, Aaron Judge added to the excitement with another impressive game, boasting a three-hit performance that elevated his batting average to .397. Both Anthony Volpe and Paul Goldschmidt contributed to the scoreboard with home runs as well.
With this victory, the Yankees improved to a season-high record of 39-23, gaining a solid lead over the fourth-place Red Sox, who have struggled recently, losing nine of their last 12 games.
However, the night was not without concern for the Yankees. A player left the game early due to a left elbow contusion. The injury occurred during a heated moment when Buhler’s 89 mph changeup hit him in the elbow, adding some tension to an otherwise strong performance.
