Kelvin Joseph Arrested Following Fatal Accident
Former Dallas Cowboys cornerback, Kelvin Joseph, was taken into custody early Saturday morning and is facing serious felony charges in Texas related to a deadly car crash, as indicated by arrest documents reviewed by the Post.
The 25-year-old has been accused of a misdemeanor related to death and felony charges stemming from operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
The Richardson Police Department noted on social media that they received a call from Joseph at 5:39 AM, during which he acknowledged his involvement in the incident but mentioned that he was on the University of Kentucky campus.
Police reported that Joseph’s BMW crashed into a motorcycle, resulting in the death of a 27-year-old woman.
Authorities added that Joseph exhibited signs of impairment and stressed that their investigation is still ongoing.
This incident marks not the first time Joseph has encountered legal issues; he had previously been linked to a suspected shooting in Dallas back in 2022.
Initially, police determined he wasn’t the shooter and managed to avoid significant legal repercussions. “It’s disappointing when players find themselves in situations that could tarnish their character,” said Cowboys owner Jerry Jones at the time. He emphasized the importance of Joseph becoming a positive influence both on and off the field.
Joseph was a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and participated in 26 games for the Cowboys before being traded to the Miami Dolphins ahead of the 2023 season. He appeared in four games with the Dolphins before shifting teams again to the Seahawks during the mid-season.
Currently, he has been part of multiple NFL practice squads but hasn’t made any appearances in regular season games. After playing nine games this season, he remained on the UFL DC defender roster.
