Marlins Pitcher Hits Head in Game Incident

During a recent game between the Miami Marlins and the Tampa Bay Rays, starting pitcher Ryan Weathers was accidentally struck in the head after tossing a final warm-up pitch between innings. This incident occurred when catcher Nick Fortes made a throw that went awry.

Typically, after each inning, catchers throw the ball to the bases to practice for potential stealing plays. However, in this case, the throw from Fortes found Weathers instead, causing him to fall to the mound in apparent pain. The team’s trainer quickly came over to assess his condition.

Despite the blow, Weathers managed to stay in the game and pitched the first inning effectively with just eight pitches. However, after a total of 57 pitches in three innings, he was taken out for precautionary reasons. The team mentioned that he would be evaluated further.

This season has been tough for Miami, with a record of 24-38, despite a recent win against Tampa Bay. Interestingly, they had just faced a tough series against the Colorado Rockies, who currently hold the worst record in Major League Baseball.

Weathers, now in his fifth MLB season after starting with the San Diego Padres, has been performing well with a 2.49 ERA over his last four starts. It’s been a bit of a journey for him, especially considering his earlier struggles and a trade to Miami during the 2023 campaign.

In this latest outing, he demonstrated resilience, but let’s see how he recovers from this incident moving forward.
