Trump Critiques California Leadership Amid Protests

President Trump has criticized what he refers to as California’s “incompetent” leadership. His comments come as masked protesters clashed with federal agents during immigration raids across Los Angeles.

Last week, Trump directed sharp remarks toward California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, following an ice operation that led to the apprehension of over 100 undocumented immigrants, including alleged gang members and drug dealers.

In a message on TruthSocial, he expressed his views, saying, “Their handling of fires and now their slow permit process shows just how poorly they’re managing things. We have an incompetent governor and mayor.”

The situation escalated in Los Angeles County, with violent protests leaving damage in their wake. In response, Trump announced the deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops, despite opposition from Newsom.

Bill Essay, a lawyer for the Central District of California, mentioned that troops were expected to arrive within 24 hours.

Protesters have been observed burning cars, igniting fires, and hurling rocks and fireworks at law enforcement, alongside graffiti with phrases like “F-K ICE” and “Kill ICE.”

Trump denounced the protesters as “troublemakers,” calling for a complete ban on face coverings during protests. “What do they have to hide?” he questioned.

Videos captured chaotic scenes where protesters confronted federal agents near locations like Home Depot, prompting law enforcement to deploy tear gas.

As unrest continued, at least 12 individuals were arrested for their involvement in the violence.

Homeland Security Secretary Krishi Noem cautioned rioters that they could face arrest if they harmed law enforcement personnel.

Trump commended the National Guard for stepping in to control the situation, indicating that their presence was vital after days of disturbances.

In response to the turmoil, Newsom criticized the federal administration for creating chaos and further complicating the situation. “This isn’t how a civilized country operates,” he remarked.

As tensions remain high, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that active Marines from Camp Pendleton may also be mobilized if the violence persists.
