Terry Moran’s Comments on Stephen Miller Spark Controversy
Terry Moran, a senior national correspondent for ABC News, recently had a heated exchange with Stephen Miller, a key adviser in the White House, during a late-night discussion. The episode included a previous interview with the president back in April, where Moran criticized Miller harshly, describing him as someone “blessed with the ability to hate.”
Moran further elaborated, asserting that while Miller might influence Trumpism by interpreting its inclinations into actual policies, that’s not what stands out about him. He went on to state that Miller embodies hatred, labeling him as “a world-class hater.” According to Moran, Miller’s animosity seems to fuel him, adding that one can literally see this hatred as his spiritual sustenance.
The correspondent didn’t hold back, indicating that Trump also possesses a similar capacity for hatred, suggesting that it serves as a tool for self-aggrandizement—a source of his own fulfillment.
Though Moran later deleted his post, it quickly spread across social media platforms. His comments attracted considerable attention, prompting critiques of him as an “ABC Journalist” who, according to some, shared an exaggerated and hate-filled tirade against Miller, hinting at bias in ABC’s reporting on the Trump administration.
This verbal clash transpired amid rising tensions in Los Angeles, where protests were taking place against border patrol arrests. During this unrest, Trump deployed 2,000 National Guard troops to manage the situation, while Miller publicly labeled the protests as “riots.”
In response, Miller declared in a post, “We’re bringing America back.” Known for his hardline stance on immigration, he previously worked with former Senator Jeff Sessions and is considered a significant player in the Trump administration’s policies that target unlawful immigration.
Besides immigration issues, Miller has been instrumental in advocating various major policy objectives for the Trump administration. In light of Moran’s comments, White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt criticized the journalist’s remarks, branding them as “unhinged and unacceptable.” She mentioned reaching out to ABC for accountability regarding Moran’s post.
Operating out of Washington, D.C., Moran has covered a range of high-stakes topics, including the White House and Supreme Court. He’s known for expressing his predictions about Trump’s past and potential future election wins. Reflecting on Trump’s nature, he once noted that understanding Trump requires viewing him as a nationalist, rather than strictly through a party lens, emphasizing the authoritative traits that often accompany such leaders.
In April, Moran interviewed Trump to mark his 100 days in office, where they discussed the deportation of Kilmer Abrego Garcia related to MS-13. In a separate incident last December, ABC settled a defamation lawsuit with Trump concerning comments made by Jean Carroll, with a payout of $15 million. Trump denied any wrongdoing in this matter.
ABC News has been contacted for comments regarding the situation.
