Los Angeles Rams defensive back Camren Curl made a light-hearted comment on Thursday about playing “Madden NFL 26” after he missed a tackle from Saquon Barkley shown in the game’s trailer. The Philadelphia Eagles have chosen Barkley as the cover athlete for this year’s installment of the EA Sports game. The trailer featured him evading Curl, who was visibly startled.
Curl, however, didn’t seem happy about it. He expressed his frustration on social media, saying, “I’m not playing Madden this year,” alongside a middle finger emoji. He later added that it was his first time seeing the trailer.
Barkley, who had a standout 2024 season, is making his debut as a cover athlete in the NFL. He rushed for over 2,000 yards and scored 13 rushing touchdowns, along with two receiving touchdowns, contributing significantly to the Eagles’ success in winning the Super Bowl.
Interestingly, Donovan McNabb, a former Eagles quarterback, criticized the New York Giants for passing on Barkley, labeling it one of the biggest blunders in NFL history.
“They made a really big mistake, and I think they’ll regret it,” McNabb commented last week.
This season’s Madden cover art captures Barkley’s impressive hurdle over a Jacksonville Jaguars defender, showcasing his athleticism. The anticipation builds as fans look forward to the game release, though it’s evident there are mixed feelings among players like Curl.
