Officers in Orlando, Florida were dispatched to a pizza restaurant around 10:45 PM on Monday after reports of a customer refusing to pay his bill, which was around $50.50, according to local news.
An employee at Corner Pizza Bar indicated that the incident escalated when the customer was asked to pay. This individual, identified as Daniel Robinson, 22, allegedly shoved the female owner, prompting employees to call 911. When officers arrived, they confronted Robinson outside the restaurant.
Robinson claimed he intended to pay with his phone but mentioned that it was dead. Interestingly, police noticed that his phone screen was still actively lit up. As the officers attempted to place him under arrest, Robinson reportedly began choking one of them. He stood approximately 6’2” tall and weighed around 280 pounds.
“I was really worried that someone could get hurt badly,” noted another officer at the scene in a report.
To stop the choking, fellow officers resorted to punching Robinson until he released the officer he was choking. When medical personnel arrived, Robinson continued to resist, even spitting at the officer during an attempt to secure him on a stretcher.
Records from the Orange County Department of Corrections reveal that Robinson was jailed the following day, facing serious charges, including attempted murder of a law enforcement officer.
In a prior incident last year, Robinson was accused of harassing a woman on the bus, a situation that led to her calling the police. Now, she expressed her determination to testify against him.
Corners Pizza Bar later released a statement thanking the police for their prompt and professional response, expressing disbelief over the incident.
As for Robinson, his total bond amount is reportedly set at $17,650, with his initial court appearance documented shortly after the arrest.
