Ozempic May Influence More than Just Waistlines
While Ozempic is often lauded for its weight-loss benefits, recent discussions have brought attention to a surprising side effect—it appears to be making some men’s penises larger.
A thread on Reddit featured male users of Ozempic sharing their experiences, with one individual noting, “I recently measured myself down there and saw an increase of about an inch.” This has sparked curiosity, although research on the link between Ozempic and genital measurements is still lacking.
Interestingly, experts have pointed out that average penis sizes are on the rise—nearly 10% from 5.17 inches to 5.63 inches between 2022 and 2024 in the UK. Some speculate that Ozempic may play a role, according to reports from diabetes.co.
Moreover, Venezuelan men reportedly saw an even more dramatic change, with average sizes increasing from 1.42 inches to 6.67 inches over the same two years.
Dr. Richard Viney, a urological surgeon in Birmingham, suggests that medications like Ozempic might contribute to this trend by helping men lose weight. “As men age, their body fat increases which can draw the penis back,” he explained.
He also noted that while weight-loss drugs are a relatively new phenomenon, changes in men’s sizes have been observed for some time. In 2023, a study in the World Journal of Men’s Health found that average sizes had grown by 24% over nearly three decades.
Experts are understandably concerned. Dr. Michael Eisenberg, one of the study’s authors, remarked, “If we’re seeing such rapid changes, it suggests something significant is at play.”
Potentially other factors, like chemicals in pesticides or personal care products, could also disrupt hormone levels, leading to these changes. Whether Ozempic or broader lifestyle trends are responsible remains to be seen.
The unfolding trend of well-endowed men could have implications beyond just anecdotal observations, raising questions about what might really be influencing these shifts.
