A new image of Travis Decker has been shared, as a major manhunt continues for the Army veteran accused of killing his three young daughters. The wanted poster highlights Decker’s distinctive tattoo and features his hair tied back in a ponytail.
Decker is viewed as “dangerous” and possibly armed, having evaded capture for over a week following the tragic deaths of his daughters, eight-year-old Paityn and five-year-old Olivia. Their bodies were discovered near a campground in Chelan County on June 2nd.
The National Guard has been called in to assist with the extensive search. Prior to the discovery of the girls’ bodies, Decker was reportedly homeless and considering relocating to Canada.
Authorities noted that the girls were found with their wrists bound and a bag over their heads, just 11 miles from the Canadian border. The investigation began on May 30th when the children didn’t return from their scheduled visit with their father.
Their mother’s attorney expressed deep sorrow over the incident, stating that Decker seemed more a “broken” individual than a cold-blooded murderer upon learning the news of the killings.
Ariana Cozart, representing Whitney Decker, mentioned, “No one would fake loving them for nine years, so clearly something in him has shattered.” She described him as a deeply troubled person, noting the nature of the crime is incomprehensible.
Recent court documents reveal that Decker was showing signs of instability weeks before the alleged murders. His erratic behavior prompted Whitney Decker to swiftly seek a protection order against him.
Whitney observed at the time, “It felt like things were improving, but one thing just led to another.”
