Dave Portnoy Lashes Out at Barstool Employee for 'Antisemitic' Podcaster

Portnoy’s Tense Exchange with Employee Over Anti-Semitic Remarks

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy recently had a heated confrontation with one of his employees, Kirk Minihane, regarding the comments of a mutual friend, Mick. The disagreement escalated after Minihane criticized Portnoy’s stance on Mick, who co-hosts a podcast alongside Minihane.

Portnoy accused Mick of making anti-Semitic remarks in a social media post. This accusation stemmed from an incident at Portnoy’s restaurant, where a sign that included anti-Semitic language was displayed, leading him to fire the employees responsible and ban certain patrons.

Interestingly, Mick has pointed out Portnoy’s hypocrisy, reminding him of past instances where he has used racial slurs. In a cheeky move, Mick referred to Portnoy as “Rabbi Dave,” which Portnoy found offensive.

Minihane defended Mick, asserting that both of them had the right to joke as they see fit. This defense did not sit well with Portnoy, who felt Minihane was taking sides against him.

The conversation quickly devolved into personal insults, with Portnoy telling Minihane to “Shut up!” Minihane retorted, asking him not to say that, which further fueled the exchange.

As tensions mounted, Portnoy lashed out, calling Minihane a “little bitch” and attempting to assert his authority over him, to which Minihane sarcastically replied about never recovering from the insults.

Mick later reacted on social media, calling Portnoy “pathetic” and expressing frustration over the inability to have a serious conversation. He remarked that despite Portnoy’s dismissal of him, the founder paradoxically mentions his name on air while criticizing him.

Overall, the fallout from this confrontation highlights ongoing tensions and differing views within the Barstool community.
