Colts reveal succession strategy for late owner's three daughters according to Jim Irsay

Colts Transition to New Ownership

The Indianapolis Colts have officially welcomed three new owners. On Monday, the team announced the transfer of ownership to the daughters of the late Jim Irsay.

Karly Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt, and Kalen Jackson will embody the new leadership for the franchise, which has been under the Irsay family for over five decades.

Irsay-Gordon, at 44, is expected to take on the role of CEO and principal owner, while Foyt will serve as executive vice president. Jackson has been designated as the Chief Brand Officer and President of the Colts Foundation.

Coach Shane Steichen commented on Irsay-Gordon’s football acumen, stating, “When you talk about football with her, she gets it.” He added that her practical insights have been evident since her arrival. It seems there’s a lot of confidence in her capabilities—perhaps rightly so.

Interestingly, all three women have been part of the organization for quite some time. Foyt joined in 2007, Irsay-Gordon in 2008, and Jackson in 2010. Before 2012, Jackson had also served as the vice-chairman/owner of the Colts.

Steichen also expressed pleasure in working with them, praising their energy and dedication to the team’s success and the community.

With this change, the Colts will continue to be one of the few NFL teams still owned by a single family.

Jim Irsay, who had a notable presence in the league, passed away at 65 in late May. He inherited the team from his father, Robert Irsay, who originally acquired the Baltimore Colts in 1972 after trading away ownership of the Los Angeles Rams.

Robert Irsay relocated the franchise to Indianapolis in 1984. Jim took over in 1997 after his father’s death, leading the team to impressive feats including ten Division Championships, two AFC Championships, and a Super Bowl victory in 2007.
