Trump Criticizes ‘Peculiar, Upset’ Greta Thunberg Following Gaza Situation

Trump Critiques Greta Thunberg After Israeli Navy Incident

President Donald Trump has taken aim at Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, labeling her a “strange” and “angry person” amid controversy regarding her recent claims of being intercepted by Israeli forces off the coast of Gaza.

On Monday, the Israeli Navy boarded a vessel attempting to breach the maritime blockade around the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip. Thunberg, 22, was among the international activists on that ship, drawing notable media attention and a swift response from Trump.

In remarks to reporters, Trump commented, “She’s a strange person; she’s a young and angry person. I don’t know if that’s true anger or not. It’s very difficult to believe.” This reflects his skepticism about her emotional state and motivations.

The boat, part of a European protest initiative, was seized early Monday after it failed to heed several Israeli warnings. The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) stated that the boarding operation was conducted lawfully, ensuring that passengers were treated “professionally and with respect.”

Thunberg took to social media to assert that she and her fellow activists felt “invited in international waters by the Israeli occupying Navy.” It seems she perceives the situation quite differently than Trump.

When asked whether he believed her claims, Trump responded, “I think there are enough problems in Israel without tempting Greta Thunberg.” He also humorously suggested, “I think she has to go to an angry management class, and that’s my main recommendation.”

Interestingly, although the passengers characterized the event as a “media provocation,” they reportedly laughed about the experience itself, referring to their vessel as a “selfie yacht.” This adds a layer of irony to the serious context surrounding their mission.

However, Israeli officials downplayed the significance of the aid aboard, asserting it would be redirected through proper humanitarian channels. Detainees, including Thunberg, were given sandwiches, but were also shown a 43-minute video illustrating Hamas’ actions during the October 7 massacre, aimed at exposing the group’s connections to the activists. This incident raises questions about activism, security, and perception in volatile regions.
