Protests Prompt Claims of Panic from MSNBC Host

On Monday, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow suggested that President Trump is experiencing “panic” due to widespread protests against him. She expressed her thoughts by stating, “Game over, big guy. You’re going to lose.”

Maddow criticized Trump’s choice to deploy the National Guard to aid in managing anti-ICE demonstrations in California, claiming this reflects a leader who is unsure of how to navigate the situation. “What we’re witnessing in California is a clear sign of panic from the president. In fact, I can’t recall a president who has been this unpopular at this stage of their term,” she said.

She further argued that someone might have convinced Trump that “attacking immigrants would be politically beneficial.” Despite the supposed support for his immigration policy, she highlighted the numerous organized protests as evidence that many Americans disapprove of his approach. “In town after town, across both blue and red states, people are expressing that they don’t want cruelty aimed at immigrants who are already facing so much hardship,” she noted.

Maddow has recently scaled back her show to just one episode each week after previously airing weekly during Trump’s early presidency.

During the broadcast, she also engaged in a discussion with fellow MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell about the National Guard’s involvement, asserting that there was no operational justification for such a deployment, regardless of the protest size. The White House has yet to respond to requests for comments on the matter.
