Dan Orlovsky’s Future at ESPN

Dan Orlovsky has reached a verbal agreement to stay with ESPN, though the contract hasn’t been formally signed yet. According to reports from The Athletic, the details are still being finalized.

The 41-year-old quarterback expressed that he was considering a role with CBS related to Big Ten coverage. However, after reviewing ESPN’s proposal, he decided to explore the potential opportunity further.

Earlier this year, Orlovsky hinted that he might part ways with ESPN when his three-year contract is up this summer. During an episode of “First Take” in February, he thanked his co-hosts and mentioned the possibility of taking a break, stating, “You’ll never know what the future holds.”

When a fan suggested he might be leaving the network, he responded, “It’s a big decision. We’ll see what happens. I’m thankful for everything.” He clarified on March 3rd that he hadn’t retired but was simply taking some time off.

Orlovsky, who had a 12-season NFL career, has become a regular figure on ESPN’s football programming, including “NFL Live.” You’ll see him frequently during the NFL season and the offseason on various shows.

Throughout his career, he appeared in 26 games and started in 12. He played for teams like the Buccaneers, Colts, and Texans, often becoming the butt of jokes for a notable moment in 2008 when he stepped out of the end zone for a safety.

Well-respected for his insights, Orlovsky recently provided an analysis on why Shedure Sanders might be the ideal player to challenge Kevin Stefanski in Cleveland.

Having joined ESPN in 2018, he also analyzes college football games for ESPN/ABC. He’s part of ESPN’s second-ranked NFL broadcasting team alongside Chris Fowler and Louis Riddick Jr.
