Knicks’ Next Coach Odds
Recent updates to the odds on who will become the next head coach of the Knicks have made Jason Kidd the frontrunner for the position.
Interestingly, mutual interest has been confirmed between the Knicks and Kidd, leading to a shift in odds that now places him at -180. Just days ago, he wasn’t even listed as a candidate.
Previously, former Nuggets head coach Michael Malone was seen as a strong contender with +125 odds, but now he has fallen to +850.
Cavaliers assistant coach Johnny Bryant is the second favorite, currently sitting at +180.

Bringing Kidd on board would require the Knicks to navigate contractual obligations with the Mavericks, as they’d need approval for any potential hire.
It’s worth noting that trade compensation could be a factor here, given that the Mavericks likely want to protect their interests regarding their leading coach.
Kidd, after his impressive performance with the Mavericks, which included leading the team to the 2024 NBA Finals, has come a long way. However, the Mavericks’ midseason trade of Luka Doncic certainly shook things up, leading to a less-than-ideal finish of the season with a 39-43 record. Interestingly enough, they still managed to win the NBA Draft Lottery, allowing them to claim what many expect to be the top pick, Cooper Flagg. Meanwhile, former Villanova coach Jay Wright is no longer being considered for this position, while UConn’s Dan Hurley has opted to stay at Storrs.
