Miles Garrett has taken a light-hearted jab at his new division rival, Aaron Rodgers.
Garrett has a history of scaring opposing quarterbacks, and now that Rodgers has joined the AFC North by signing with the Steelers, it creates an interesting dynamic.
During a recent mini camp, Garrett quipped, “That’s a good opportunity to put him in the cemetery,” suggesting a bit of competitive rivalry.
With Rodgers now in Pittsburgh, the two will compete against each other at least twice this season, making for some exciting matchups.
But Garrett’s comments are not just playful banter; they also harken back to his past Halloween antics where he’s referenced creating a “cemetery” for quarterbacks.
For example, during Halloween of 2021, he set up several gravestones in his yard, among other decorations.
These gravestones humorously featured then-rival quarterbacks from the AFC North—like Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson—along with other notable QBs like Kyler Murray and Justin Herbert.
Now in his ninth NFL season, Garrett continues to be a formidable force on the field.
The defensive star has earned six Pro Bowl selections and multiple All-Pro honors, including being named Defensive Player of the Year in 2023.
Garrett has consistently recorded impressive stats, with at least 14 sacks in each of the last four seasons, and he hasn’t dipped below 10 since his rookie year.
Interestingly, he has faced Rodgers only once, registering one tackle and one hit on him during that game.
Despite not having much experience against Rodgers, Garrett has gone up against the Steelers 14 times, tallying 44 tackles and 13 sacks in those matchups.
The first clash between the Browns and Steelers this season is set for October 12th, which, fittingly, coincides with Halloween season. Perhaps Garrett will take the chance to showcase his cemetery decorations again.
