US Navy Officer Under Scrutiny for Threatening Comments
Benjamin France, a judge advocate general (JAG) officer in the US Navy, is facing allegations for making threatening remarks directed at ICE agents on January 6. This information came to light through a post he made on X.
In his post, France reportedly stated, “And we’ll hunt down all the J6 and ICE agents again.” A retired U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 2, who also works as an intelligence officer, shared a screenshot of this post on his account.
The individual, known as “Shoes,” introduced France, also referred to as Benny, and stated that he had threatened to “catch up all J6s and ICE agents.” He expressed concern over the implications of such threats, particularly because France serves as an active duty Navy JAG officer.
Shoes also included images that appear to originate from France’s LinkedIn profile, indicating his commitment to the US Navy JAG Corps. Following this incident, France reportedly deleted both his X and LinkedIn accounts.
Shoes emphasized that while he usually disregards such comments, the nature of France’s threats necessitated public attention. He mentioned that these comments were directed to the Secretary of Defense.
The post further revealed France addressing Kingsley Cortez, who is connected to the Department of Defense Press Bureau. Shoes noted that France’s chain of command had been informed about the situation, stating that such threats from an officer are unacceptable, especially given his role in providing legal advice that affects many personnel.
The suspect also has a profile linked to bar licensing in California. The US Navy JAG office was contacted for a statement regarding France’s social media remarks. A spokesperson acknowledged awareness of the situation and indicated that an investigation is underway.
