ICE Arrests Immigrants Linked to LA Riots

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on Wednesday that Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested several individuals who had previously been deported from Mexico. These arrests follow accusations that they participated in riots in Los Angeles on June 7th, where they allegedly threw Molotov cocktails at law enforcement.

Los Angeles has been on edge lately, with reports of cars set ablaze, bricks and fireworks thrown at police, looting in various establishments, and vandalism at LAPD stations. This unrest appears to stem from a recent ICE operation.

One individual, Emiliano Garduno Garvez, faces charges of attempted murder for reportedly throwing a Molotov cocktail during the protests. According to ICE official Tricia McLaughlin, Garduno is an unlawfully present Mexican national who threatened federal agents during the riot.

McLaughlin stated, “The disturbances in Los Angeles won’t deter us or slow our progress. Anyone who assaults a law enforcement officer will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Records show that Garduno Garvez had previously been deported and had a criminal history, including arrests for grand theft and driving under the influence near Anaheim and Long Beach, respectively.

Meanwhile, demonstrations have spread across the country, from Asheville to Chicago, as similar riots break out in various cities.

The DHS indicated that the incidents in Los Angeles involved numerous undocumented immigrants. They reported that many individuals arrested during these operations had prior criminal convictions.

Despite the ongoing riots, DHS insists their dedicated ICE officers are working hard to remove dangerous individuals from the streets of LA, while local leadership faces its own challenges in managing the unrest.
