Music icon Brian Wilson, renowned for his work with the Beach Boys, has died at the age of 82. His children shared the news via their social media accounts.
Wilson was part of the legendary group alongside his brothers, Dennis and Carl, both of whom have also passed away. Dennis Wilson died in 1983 at the young age of 39, while Carl Wilson’s life ended in 1998 when he was 51.
The family expressed their sadness in a heartfelt post, noting that they are “grief-stricken” over the loss of their “beloved father.” They requested respect for their privacy during this difficult time: “We are at a loss for words right now, and we find ourselves sharing our sadness with the world. Love and mercy.”
Although no official cause of death has been disclosed, reports indicate that Wilson had been battling dementia as recently as February 2024.
Musicians and fans alike have shared their tributes. Sean Ono Lennon, son of the Beatles’ John Lennon, wrote about his sorrow on social media, emphasizing how profoundly Wilson impacted him. “He was always very kind and generous. He was our American Mozart,” Lennon remarked.

Notably, Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood expressed his condolences, stating, “My world is in mourning.” Chris Wallin, an A&R Head of Baste Records, reflected on Wilson’s unique ability to both break and mend hearts through melody.
Throughout their career, the Beach Boys released 29 studio albums and numerous compilations, with several achieving Platinum status. Iconic songs penned by Wilson include “Good Vibrations,” “California Girls,” and “In My Room.”
Brian Wilson was married twice, first to Marilyn Robel from 1964 to 1979, and then to Melinda Kee Ledbetter from 1995 until her passing last year. He had two daughters with Robel, who later formed the chart-topping group Wilson Phillips.
