Border issues under Biden lead to unrest and disorder in U.S. cities

Chaos in Los Angeles

This week, Los Angeles resembled a battlefield. A group of about 1,000 individuals targeted law enforcement, hurling rocks, concrete, and fireworks. They damaged vehicles and ignited fires in the streets. Amid this turmoil, an American flag was set ablaze on the ground while some in the crowd disrespected it, shouting, “F**k playing cards!”

This wasn’t just an outburst of anger—it appeared to be a coordinated assault on law, order, and national sovereignty. An unsettling display, especially in a city led by officials who have spent years dismantling protections meant to keep their communities safe.

The United States is supposed to protect its citizens, not those who violate its laws.

It’s essential to clarify that these disturbances didn’t just pop up last week. They began when Joe Biden relaxed border controls and weakened the rule of law.

When the American flag gets burned in downtown Los Angeles, it’s akin to local officials abandoning the constitution that once safeguarded citizens’ rights.

The Constitution outlines a core mission for government: to establish justice, maintain peace, and secure freedoms for current and future generations. Article 2, Section 3 specifies the President’s role in ensuring that laws are carried out faithfully.

But judging by the events in Los Angeles, elected officials seem more inclined to protect those challenging the law rather than upholding it. Ultimately, the President is responsible for safeguarding the nation and its citizens.

Biden’s Leadership Lapses

Joe Biden has seemingly forsaken responsibility. Throughout his term, over 12 million illegal crossings occurred, including a staggering number of individuals with criminal records.

It’s not that he simply overlooked the laws—he actively ignored them. The consequences have been dire. More than 300,000 Americans lost their lives to fentanyl overdoses under his watch. Gangs, primarily formed by illegal immigrants, are now the leading operators of human trafficking networks in major U.S. cities. Many innocent Americans have been victims of violence, and the federal government’s inaction has allowed this to happen.

This isn’t just policy failure—it’s a failure of leadership. And such failures aren’t covered by the Constitution.

Trump’s Response

In November, voters reacted. Donald Trump returned to office in January, aiming to restore national sovereignty, order, and safety for all citizens. That mission encompasses the appointments he’s made—Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and ICE Director Todd Lyons.

They’re not engaged in abstract discussions; their efforts are tangible and immediate. While California officials obstruct federal agents and offer refuge to violent mobs, Trump’s administration is focused on reasserting legal authority, starting with immigration enforcement.

California leaders, however, may want to reconsider their stance. As chaos unfolds, Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass reject federal assistance while prioritizing the protection of those undermining their communities.

Rights and Responsibilities

According to the California Constitution, all people are born free and have inalienable rights—this includes life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The Los Angeles City Charter also grants the authority to protect these rights. Yet, Bass and Newsom have chosen to protect criminals from legal action.

A Safe Haven for Criminals

Individuals that ICE attempted to apprehend recently include:

  • Armando Aldaz: Convicted of sexual battery and associated with gangs.
  • Victor Aguilar: Previously deported and convicted of assault with a deadly weapon.
  • Jesus Morales: Involved in an alien smuggling conspiracy.
  • Jose Ortiz: Convicted of major cocaine trafficking.
  • Cuong Chanh Phan: Found guilty of second-degree murder.

It would be misleading to label them as mere “asylum seekers.” They’re predators, and California’s sanctuary policies shield them.

The Declaration of Independence emphasizes the government’s role in securing rights—rights meant for citizens, not for those who enter illegally and contravene the law. This principle is foundational, and it’s at risk.

The Government for Americans

The United States should prioritize protecting its citizens over those who break the law. Unfortunately, cities run by Democrats have skewed this notion significantly.

New York, Chicago, Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles—one by one, these cities are undermining fundamental law and order while offering a charade of governance.

This must come to an end.

All foreigners entering this country illegally come under federal and state jurisdiction and must face the consequences. They should return to their home countries and respect our flag rather than desecret it in the streets.

Donald Trump understands the stakes involved. The Constitution calls for action, and America is fortunate to have a president willing to respond decisively.
