Podcast Host Roasts Pitch Attempt
Former NFL Pro Bowl lineman Taylor Lewan shared some comedic commentary about his friend Will Compton’s struggles with his first pitch during a recent podcast episode.
Lewan faced quite a bit of mockery on social media after his own pitch at Bush Stadium, before a St. Louis Cardinals game, went terribly wrong last week.
During their podcast, Lewan and Compton talked about running into former President Trump at UFC 316 in Newark, New Jersey. Compton mentioned shaking hands with Trump, who humorously ribbed him about their podcast, “Bassin with the Boys.” Lewan recalled the moment, saying, “He was looking straight at me and saying, ‘Do you remember that throw?’ It felt like he was really laying it in.”
As for his own pitch, Lewan admitted he could sense disaster even before the ball left his hand. He ended up throwing it more towards the first base area than anywhere near home plate. Thankfully, no one got hurt, but in a moment of frustration, he tossed his hat onto the field and did push-ups in a bid to punish himself. This pitch quickly drew comparisons to 50 Cent’s infamous throw from a few years back.
Lewan later reflected on his performance, saying, “This is the worst day of my athletic career, including the Chandler Jones game. I need redemption.” And he didn’t shy away from taking full responsibility for it, noting, “No excuses. We have to be better.”
For what it’s worth, Lewan did take some time to acknowledge his earlier years as a professional bowler between 2016 and 2018, perhaps as a reminder that not all athletic endeavors come easy.
