Kate Beckinsale Takes Legal Action Against Film Producers Following Injury

Kate Beckinsale Sues Producer Over Unsafe Conditions

Kate Beckinsale has filed a lawsuit against the producer of *Canary Black*, alleging that she was exposed to “dangerous and unsafe” conditions while working on the film. The actress accuses producer John Zois, via Anton Entertainment Media Services, Inc., of negligence, emotional distress, and intentional infliction of battery. Interestingly, she initiated her legal proceedings in December 2024 but later revised her complaint to incorporate additional details about the incident that occurred on May 21, 2025.

The 51-year-old actress suffered significant meniscus tears in her left knee on December 22, 2024, while preparing for a crime film. Reports indicate that she reached out to her orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Jason Snibbe, to voice her concerns about performing stunts that involved running and jumping, among other actions. Sadly, her warnings went unheeded, which she claims exacerbated her injury. Beckinsale expressed that she was compelled to engage in “dangerous action sequences” despite suffering what has been described as “critical trauma.”

Recurrently, Beckinsale and her team highlighted issues concerning unsafe conditions on set, urging producers and medical staff to address safety and workload issues. They mentioned that long filming days often stretched to 15 hours, which created a high-pressure environment.

Rosenzweig, an agent representing Beckinsale, also voiced significant concerns about the filming conditions. She noted that the actress was consistently on set during her scheduled hours and pointed out the extended working days. “It seemed like everyone around her was aware of these prolonged hours, except for her,” Rosenzweig remarked.

In a rather intense comment, Rosenzweig added, “If you’re attempting to harm someone, you seem to be succeeding.” Beckinsale’s representatives have confirmed that she was not working under safe conditions, further asserting that she was ordered to engage in risky stunts without adequate preparation or training.
