Police Investigate Tragic Case of Missing Child
Concerns are growing as a mother claims that police have fabricated a story regarding her three-year-old daughter, Nora Dinkins, who has been found dead. Daryan Randle, 31, reported to authorities on a Tuesday evening that an armed man had taken Nora from their car, escaping in an SUV with a white woman around 7:15 PM, as per Newcastle County Police.
Randle was with her boyfriend, Cedric Antoine Britten, 44, during the incident.
Authorities responded to the situation on Gender Road in Newark, northern Delaware. Initially, a missing person investigation was launched by the Newcastle County Police Crime Investigation Division and the FBI. However, the Amber Alert was subsequently canceled when police in Maryland interviewed Britten at a location linked to Randle and found a child’s body in an empty lot in Cecil County.
As of now, the body has not been formally identified, but officials believe it likely belongs to the missing child. A medical examiner’s review is pending, and Maryland State Police have indicated that the appearance of the body aligns with that of a young girl.
On Wednesday, spokespeople from Maryland State Police announced the arrests of Randle and Britten in connection with the ongoing investigation. Randle now faces charges including first and second-degree murder, child abuse leading to death, and several others.
Currently, Randle is in custody and is awaiting extradition at the Newcastle County Police Department. Meanwhile, Britten is charged as an accessory after the fact—for not reporting the child’s death—and is being held by Maryland police, awaiting his first court appearance in Cecil County District Court.
