Caitlin Clark makes choke gesture as Pacers go up 2-1 in the NBA Finals

Clark’s Influence Beyond Basketball in Indiana

Caitlyn Clark made waves in Indiana once again on Wednesday night, though not necessarily for her basketball prowess.

Instead, she was present at Game 3 of the NBA Finals, where the Indiana Pacers faced off against the Oklahoma City Thunder in her home arena. It was an exhilarating comeback for the Pacers, who were trailing before flipping the script to win 89-84, dominating the final quarter with a 32-18 run.

It seems Clark wanted to get in on the action—she channeled a famous Indiana gesture: the chalk sign. This tradition was popularized by Reggie Miller in the 1990s and even saw a moment during the Eastern Conference Finals when Tyrese Halliburton celebrated what he thought was a game-winning shot. The Pacers had previously struggled, but they were able to turn around their fortunes with some impressive performances.

Following this comeback, Clark mimicked the beloved Pacers gesture, which fans surely appreciated. The game’s outcome helped propel the Pacers to a 2-1 lead in the series, an exciting prospect for the home crowd ahead of their next match.

In that game, Halliburton finished strongly, contributing 22 points on a 9-for-17 shooting night, along with 11 assists and a near triple-double performance. On defense, he also made his mark with two steals and a block.

However, the series has highlighted the need for depth on the bench, particularly with guard Benedict Mathurin stepping up to the plate. He managed to score 27 points efficiently, going 9-of-14 from the field, and added four rebounds and an assist in just 22 minutes of play.

Another notable performer, Pascal Siakam, also joined the 20-point club, with a 21-point showing—hitting five free throws along with six rebounds and four assists to boot. His contributions were crucial, especially in tight moments.
