Dolphins' Zach Wilson facing a new concern he hasn't experienced before

Zach Wilson is hearing some new advice. The quarterback for the Dolphins shared with reporters that his coach pointed out he was late on several of his throws.

“It’s wild because you don’t get that kind of feedback in other places,” Wilson remarked after practice on Wednesday. “Even if you have a strong arm, it’s not usually like anyone says, ‘You’re behind on this throw.’”

Currently, Wilson is in his fifth season in the league, having joined the Dolphins in March after time with the Jets and Broncos.

The 25-year-old attributes this new perspective to his receivers.

There’s been chatter among fans about whether this signifies a weakness in the Dolphins’ receiving corps, but Wilson disagrees. “We’re really fast,” he noted. “I need to trust that my receiver will be there.”

These insights could be particularly valuable for him as he transitions from his less-than-stellar run in New York, where he struggled to find success.

When the Jets picked Wilson second overall in 2021, there were high hopes for him as the solution to their long-standing quarterback issues. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to deliver, ending with a 12-21 record over three seasons, throwing 23 touchdowns and 25 interceptions.

Before the 2024 season, he was traded to the Broncos for a handful of draft picks, and he hasn’t started a game since the 2023 season, nor does it seem he will in 2025.

Interestingly, the challenges faced by Miami’s Tua Tagovailoa in staying healthy throughout the NFL season could hand Wilson an unexpected opportunity.
