Growth and Responsibility in Christian Entertainment
In the hit TV series about Jesus, actor Jonathan Roumie emphasizes that Hollywood must strive for high standards in storytelling to make a significant cultural impact. The series, currently wrapping up its sixth season in Italy, has gained a huge following worldwide, drawing in hundreds of millions of viewers. This upcoming season will depict the Crucifixion.
Roumie shared his thoughts alongside creator and director Dallas Jenkins during the 2025 K-Love Fan Awards, highlighting the exciting changes within Christian entertainment. He also had a role in the successful 2023 film, “Jesus Revolution.”
“Dallas is a genius with his vision,” Roumie stated. “He has this incredible capability to bring people together—a blend of writers, directors, and artisans—allowing actors like me to contribute to that vision.”
While acknowledging the emotional weight of portraying Christ’s Crucifixion, Roumie mentioned that it feels more like a responsibility than pressure. “It’s a sacred duty,” he explained. “We understand the seriousness involved, not just for us, but for the vision of the show.”
“This role is indeed a sacred responsibility,” Roumie emphasized.
Moreover, he stressed that the content produced must maintain top-notch quality. “At the end of the day, it has to be about quality,” he remarked. “We must reach levels of artistry that can compete with, if not exceed, mainstream Hollywood. It’s essential for the ongoing revolution in filmmaking and media.”
Fans can expect Season 5 to be available on Prime Video starting June 15, while Season 6 is anticipated to debut in late 2026. Additionally, Prime Video is working on a second season of “David’s House,” which recently surged to the top of the platform.
