Israeli Airstrikes Target Iran
The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) carried out extensive airstrikes, focusing on Iranian leadership, military assets, nuclear sites, and refineries early in the morning. This operation—dubbed “Rising Operation Lion”—involved multiple waves, with the Israeli Air Force (IAF) executing hundreds of flights over distances previously considered challenging without mid-air refueling.
To Iran’s surprise, their defenses seemed either severely compromised or entirely absent, a situation likely exacerbated by last year’s retaliatory strikes from Israel that devastated their air defense capabilities.
While Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s influential leader, appeared to have escaped unharmed, senior military officials and key nuclear scientists were reportedly not as fortunate. The Natanz nuclear facility, crucial to Iran’s nuclear ambitions, was left with significant damage, if it wasn’t completely destroyed in the attack.
The IDF emphasized that this preemptive strike was undertaken with high-quality intelligence to counter ongoing threats from the Iranian regime. They highlighted that numerous IAF jets successfully executed strikes on various military and nuclear targets throughout Iran. Citizens have been urged to stay calm and follow IDF directives as the military braces for any necessary defensive or investigative actions.
For years, Iran has actively pursued a campaign of terrorism against Israel, both directly and through proxy forces. They have been implicated in the formation of terrorist activities aimed at Israel and have demonstrated an intention to acquire nuclear capabilities. High-ranking officials have made clear their goals include the elimination of Israel, raising concerns about Iran’s advancements toward obtaining nuclear weapons that pose existential threats not only to Israel but also globally.
