Florida sheriffs have issued serious warnings to those considering protests against ICE and former President Trump.
“If you throw a brick, a bomb, or point your gun at our agents, we’ll kill you and inform your family where they can collect your body because the cemetery is empty,” warned Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivy on Thursday.
He elaborated, “If you try to surround a Brevard County vehicle and the driver refuses to leave, you might find yourself dragged down the street.” This was shared during a press conference focused on immigration matters.
“If you spit on us, you’ll end up in the hospital and in jail. And if you assault one of us, be prepared for a visit to the hospital, followed by prison, along with an encounter with our big, beautiful dogs,” Ivy cautioned.
These stern comments come as many anti-Trump and anti-ICE demonstrations are anticipated over the weekend.
Over 2,000 protests are scheduled for Saturday, coinciding with the president’s military birthday parade.
The “There’s no King” protesters have previously voiced their dissent against Trump and other leaders, like Elon Musk. The protests are being organized by the national anti-authoritarian 50501 movement, which is urging Trump to “abdicate” and drawing comparisons between his actions and those of a monarch.
In response to escalating tensions, President Trump has deployed 4,000 national security guards and 700 US Marines to Los Angeles following violent outbreaks related to deportation efforts.
Similarly, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has ordered over 5,000 Texas National Guard members to be deployed this weekend in reaction to ongoing protests.
