Israel and Allies Stop Iranian Drones; IDF Resumes Strikes

Israel, along with its allies and regional Arab nations, successfully intercepted Iranian drones that were launched in response to significant airstrikes from Israel, effectively preventing them from entering Israeli airspace.

According to various reports, Iran deployed around 100 drones targeting Israel following a surprise attack by the Israeli Air Force (IAF) on multiple installations in Iran, which included both military positions and nuclear facilities over several waves.

Israeli citizens were advised to remain close to bomb shelters, though, as highlighted by the Jerusalem Post, all drones were intercepted outside of Israeli boundaries, similar to prior Iranian drone assaults in April 2024.

In a recent update, the IDF’s Home Front Command lifted the alert for residents to remain near secure zones after confirming that they had managed to intercept a drone launched from Iran early Friday morning.

While the IDF has not formally verified that all drones were downed—and there may be additional launches anticipated—they did feel confident enough to relax directives for the time being. Should Iran initiate another significant offensive, it’s likely that these guidelines would become more stringent again. The Israeli military acted swiftly, deploying aircraft as soon as they had confirmation of the Iranian drone launch.

Like in April 2024, reports suggest several nations assisted in downing Iranian drones as they traversed the airspace.

In the interim, Israel has persisted in its campaign against Iran’s remaining air defense capabilities. The IDF released a statement indicating that Israeli fighter jets, backed by precise intelligence from their agencies, executed a substantial strike against the Iranian regime’s air defense infrastructure in western Iran.

Numerous radars and surface-to-air missile systems were destroyed during this operation. The IDF has consistently targeted the air defense systems belonging to the Iranian regime and its proxies throughout the Middle East during the ongoing conflict.

This series of strikes is expected to enhance the operational freedom of the Israeli Air Force significantly.

Reports suggest that Israel may be approaching a state of complete air dominance over Iran, allowing them to strike Iranian targets with greater ease.
