Mother of Murdered Daughter Rejects Recent Unrest in Los Angeles
A mother, whose daughter was killed by an undocumented immigrant, is expressing her discontent with recent protests in Los Angeles while also pushing back against statements from Democratic lawmakers. Patty Morin, whose 37-year-old daughter Rachel Morin was murdered, spoke on “Fox & Friends” about her frustrations regarding ongoing anti-ICE protests and comments made during a recent House hearing focused on sanctuary cities.
“These protests are for illegal immigrants, who aren’t even American citizens,” Morin said. “What about the American citizens, the children who are suffering and even dying? This is alarming, and it feels like those realities are being ignored.”
Rachel Morin, a mother of five, was tragically attacked while jogging in Maryland. Authorities report that she was ambushed and ultimately killed by Victor Antonio Martinez Hernandez, an undocumented immigrant who was convicted of her murder earlier this year.
Morin’s comments came after Texas Democrat Jasmine Crockett spoke at a House Oversight Committee hearing, arguing that illegal immigration is often downplayed in relation to the dangers of white supremacy. “I don’t know how many more interviews we need to hold to discuss this,” Crockett remarked. “I won’t tolerate murders carried out by anyone, whether it’s a criminal or a white supremacist, yet there’s a lack of hearings about this.” The hearing featured governors of sanctuary city policies, and Crockett described the proceedings as a “political theater” after she apologized to one of the governors present.
In response, Morin found Crockett’s statements disturbing, particularly regarding criticisms of former President Trump’s immigration policies. “Crockett mentioned that President Trump had allocated millions to protect American citizens,” she noted. “What’s not being talked about is how these sanctuary cities are using billions on benefits for immigrants, benefits that American citizens often don’t even receive.”
Morin has become a supporter of stricter immigration enforcement and has appeared at several events alongside Trump. She hopes that what happened to her daughter doesn’t happen to anyone else’s family. “It feels like the Democratic Party, and many liberals, just aren’t interested in the everyday American people,” she asserted. “Their focus seems to be more on their agenda, which I believe is ultimately undermining our country.”
