It’s really unfortunate what’s happening in Los Angeles. There are riots, looting, and clashes with the police taking place. Law enforcement, including police officers and the National Guard, are actively trying to maintain order, facing rather intense situations.
Yet, in some of the calmer footage I’ve seen from LA, there were some pretty impressive tackles made on certain individuals out on the street.
We’re talking about serious NFL-level tackles here.
Now, let me tell you—some of these tackles remind me of what legendary players like Jack Lambert would appreciate.
And honestly, I think it’s worth sharing these moments.
Great tackle, but not perfect
In a recent scene, there was this protester who made the questionable choice to chase down a police officer. The guy ended up throwing something at the officer and got hit with a paintball in the process. Out of nowhere…
Bam! It was like something you’d hear John Madden shouting about during a game.
I can’t say who executed the tackle, but it was evident that this person had some football experience.
Now, the technique wasn’t flawless. He used his left foot to plant but activated it with his right shoulder. Ideally, you’d want to coordinate both sides better. Still, the outcome was impressive.
Los Angeles blindside tackle
Let’s mention a different situation that occurred on a Wednesday evening involving a police officer.
Some unsavory characters were on the verge of tossing a security cone at officers when one managed to evade two cops who weren’t quite executing their tackles properly. However, he didn’t count on the third officer who sent him crashing into a building. That took him completely by surprise.
We certainly are in fascinating times.
California Senator Padilla gets involved
On Thursday, California Senator Alex Padilla interrupted a press conference held by the Department of Homeland Security.
When asked to leave, he refused. The request became more forceful, and the officers clearly had no intention of sparking a conversation with Secretary Christie Noem.
Before long, Padilla was forcibly removed and ended up on the ground, handcuffed.
Homeland Security’s response
While it wasn’t exactly textbook tackling, there was certainly no quarterback maneuvering to avoid contact here.
Padilla is a Democrat, and many in that political circle raised concerns about how he was treated, including Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.
In response, Homeland Security stated that Padilla had disrupted a live press conference without proper identification, ignoring officers’ commands to leave the premises.
