Trump Enthusiastic About Festival Despite Rain Forecast

President Trump expressed his excitement for a festival on Saturday, even with predictions of rainy weather. He stated, “Our great military parade is rain or shine,” sharing his thoughts the morning of the event.

He also noted, “Remember, rainy days bring good fortune.” This day commemorates the 250th anniversary of the US Army, the 248th anniversary of the US flag, and the President’s 79th birthday.

Weather forecasts predict rain and thunderstorms for the afternoon in the capital. Various celebrations are planned, from flower-laying ceremonies to Army fitness competitions, with the military parades being a key highlight.

The National Weather Service estimates a 30% chance of rain throughout the day, though heavy downpours are likely during the first 90 minutes of the parade, with flood warnings in effect.

Over 6,000 soldiers, dressed in modern and historic uniforms from various US military conflicts, will participate in the parade, with an expected cost exceeding $45 million. The day’s event is set to feature tanks, artillery, tactical vehicles, and aircraft.

Earlier, Trump remarked, “This is a big day for America!!” and wished his followers a “Happy Flag Day.”

The celebration may coincide with a demonstration by the “No Kings” movement, which opposes using the military to support Trump’s immigration policies. This group hasn’t held particular events in Washington but is framed as a boycott against the military parade.

In response to potential protests, Trump stated earlier this week that he would face “a huge force” to ensure the event goes smoothly. When questioned about the “No Kings” protest, he remarked, “I don’t feel like a king,” adding that he faces significant hurdles in getting his agenda approved by Congress.

This unrest follows actions taken by the Trump administration to deploy National Guard units and Marines in Los Angeles to address protests related to immigration raids. Some state and local officials have expressed concern over the military’s involvement, labeling it as unnecessary. Trump has defended the decision, suggesting California should express gratitude for his actions.
