Texas Capitol Evacuated Due to Threat
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has announced the evacuation of the Texas Capitol building and its adjacent area. This was prompted by a credible threat directed at lawmakers, who were set to attend a protest that day.
The Capitol, along with its surroundings, will remain closed temporarily while authorities investigate the matter. Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick took to X to emphasize the importance of heeding warnings and responding appropriately to the threat. He stated that people should remain vigilant until the situation is resolved.
Patrick noted that such threats, while not uncommon, must be taken seriously. He differentiated between free speech and legitimate threats, reflecting on the tragic events in Minnesota and expressing condolences to victims there.
Protests are currently unfolding nationwide, coinciding with what has been dubbed the “Day of Rebellion” against President Trump and his supporters. On the same day, a significant military parade is planned in Washington, D.C., commemorating the Army’s 250th anniversary.
The Texas DPS is actively collaborating with local law enforcement to handle the ongoing investigation.
