Rudy Giuliani Released from ICU, Remains Hospitalized
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been released from the intensive care unit but will continue to stay in the hospital for further recovery, according to his spokesperson.
Ted Goodman, a political strategist and Giuliani’s former co-host on a livestream program, shared updates on social media. He mentioned, “The mayor and his family are grateful for the overwhelming love and prayers.” He emphasized Giuliani’s resilience, stating, “He’s the same fighter he’s always been, and he’s making progress in this battle.”
Goodman expressed the positive impact of prayers on Giuliani’s recovery, adding that the former mayor can indeed feel the support and is encouraging others to keep sending their prayers.
Health Update
Giuliani, who is 81, was admitted to the hospital on Sunday in a serious but stable condition due to severe respiratory issues. Following a trip to Paris, his health declined rapidly, leading to hospitalization and the use of a ventilator.
Dr. Maria Ryan, his physician, explained that Giuliani had felt unwell after his journey, and his condition escalated to the point where last rites were administered. However, by Tuesday, his situation improved significantly, allowing doctors to remove the ventilator. Now, he’s able to breathe and speak without assistance.
Path to Recovery
Dr. Ryan is optimistic about Giuliani’s recovery, stating, “He’s a fighter, just like he was before.” She mentioned that he received a priest’s blessing during his critical phase, likening the situation to a miracle. “He has nine lives, and today, he’s doing much better,” she noted.
Giuliani has had various health challenges lately yet remains active in public life. Early this week, Goodman referenced past health issues linked to his exposure to debris during the September 11 attacks, which later resulted in a diagnosis of restrictive airway disease.
In addition, last August, he was involved in a car accident in New Hampshire, sustaining serious injuries including a fractured vertebra and multiple lacerations.
Community Support
Upon learning about Giuliani’s health situation, former President Donald Trump praised him, calling him “the best mayor” New York City has ever had. Trump referred to him as “a true warrior” during this difficult time.
