Wilson Contreras seemed primed for a confrontation after a recent game incident.

During a game against the Brewers, a play involving Brewers’ third baseman Caleb Durbin led to a collision with Contreras. As Durbin made a groundout, he ran into Contreras, who had stepped into his path, causing both players to stumble to the ground.

Immediately after the impact, Contreras exchanged words with Lewis Hoskins, the Brewers’ first baseman, appearing to be ready for a possible altercation, although things eventually calmed down.

Later, in the fifth inning, Brewers pitcher Jose Quintana tagged Contreras on the arm with a pitch. In a light-hearted move, Contreras retrieved the ball and handed it back to Quintana before heading back to base.

Both teams were issued warnings following this pitch incident.

Afterwards, Contreras, who has a brother on the Brewers, called out one of the Brewers players without naming them. He expressed disappointment that the player had not said anything face-to-face, despite his earlier banter from the dugout. “I expected more,” he noted, hinting at a softer side to the braggadocio.

When prompted about Hoskins, Contreras reiterated that the first baseman hadn’t communicated much to him, saying, “I was hoping he would say something, but he just turned away.” He found that odd, given the energy during the game.

Contreras emphasized that he held no grudges against Quintana, insisting the collision with Durbin was not his fault. “I wasn’t trying to hurt him,” he declared, stating that he had the right to occupy his space on the field.
