Olivia Rodrigo Supports Anti-ICE Protest in LA

Pop artist Olivia Rodrigo recently showed her backing for an anti-ICE protest in Los Angeles aimed at opposing “violent deportation.” In her Instagram Stories, she expressed her frustration with these actions under the current administration.

“Having lived in Los Angeles my whole life, I’m really upset about the violent deportations targeting my neighbors,” she stated. Rodrigo emphasized that Los Angeles thrives on immigration, arguing that it’s unacceptable to treat hardworking community members in such a disrespectful manner. “I stand with the beautiful, diverse communities of Los Angeles and immigrants throughout the U.S.,” she added.

Additionally, she stressed her support for free speech and the right to protest.

In a related post, Rodrigo included a link to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) that offers information on immigration rights and guidelines for interacting with law enforcement or ICE agents.

She also shared a photo highlighting one of the “no-kings” protests directed against President Trump that occurred on the same day.

Fox News Digital has reached out to a representative of Rodrigo for further comments.

Back in October, Rodrigo recounted her own experience with border security after a trip through Canada, recalling how she was detained and interrogated at 3 AM by a federal officer. It was a frightening moment for her; she recalled the officer warning her, “You know you could go to prison for lying to a federal officer, which is serious.” Rodrigo expressed her disbelief, thinking, “I’m really not going to be jailed in America!”

She eventually was released about half an hour later when the officers realized they had confused her with a suspect of a similar name.

Protests erupted across Los Angeles around June 6, caused by ICE agents’ raids and arrests. In response to the unrest, Trump deployed national security personnel to help control the situation, which had a significant negative impact on local businesses.
