IndyCar racers Josef Newgarden and Louis Foster crash into each other

IndyCar Drivers Involved in Collision at Bommarito Automotive Group 500

Josef Newgarden and Louis Foster found themselves in a serious crash on Sunday during the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at the World Wide Technology Raceway, located just outside St. Louis, Illinois.

The incident took place midway through the race when Foster lost control of his car as he approached a turn, subsequently hitting a wall. As he spun down the front stretch, Newgarden had no opportunity to evade him.

In a shocking turn of events, Newgarden collided with Foster’s car, which launched into the air, eventually flipping over. It landed upside down and slid down the track. IndyCar safety personnel quickly jumped over the barrier to check on both drivers.

After being released from the infield care center, Foster shared his experience with Fox Sports. “I wiggled a bit… it got a little too high and went into the marble,” he recounted. “I couldn’t stop the car from spinning, and, of course, it had a pretty horrifying effect on both Joseph and me. I’m just relieved he’s okay.”

Meanwhile, Newgarden remained silent after the incident, perhaps reflecting on the chaotic and dangerous nature of the crash.

Kyle Kirkwood crossed the finish line to win the race, marking his second consecutive victory and solidifying his position in the season standings. He, along with Alex Palou, stands out as one of the few drivers to have won a race this season.

With just 73 points separating Pow, Pato O’Ward, and Kirkwood, the competition remains tight as the season progresses.

Currently, Newgarden sits in 16th place while Foster is in 24th.
