Max Boot, a critic of Trump, confesses he 'really liked' the Army parade.

Max Boot’s Take on the D.C. Military Parade

On Sunday, Max Boot, a columnist for the Washington Post known for his anti-Trump stance, expressed his enjoyment of the recent military parade in Washington, D.C. This event was organized to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the U.S. military.

Boot noted that, despite President Trump’s concerns about the parade potentially turning into a “political pageant,” he found himself slowly letting go of that anxiety as the sounds of music and marching soldiers filled the air. “I hope you don’t think you’re suddenly on Team Trump if you enjoyed the parade,” he quipped.

He shared how exhilarating it was to see soldiers in historic uniforms and highlighted his excitement during the flyover segment.

Prior to the event, “The View” co-host Sara Haines had compared the parade to events in Russia and North Korea, stating, “That’s not what I think about when I think of the United States.” In contrast, Boot described the occasion as a showcase of American military pride, remarking that it lacked the “goose-stepping” associated with parades in other countries.

He dismissed the notion of a threatening military presence, noting, “I enjoyed watching the tanks rumble down the streets. It was hard to see anything menacing about it when the crew members were smiling and waving.” Interestingly, Boot speculated that his sense of enjoyment was partly due to Trump maintaining a low profile during the event, focusing more on the military than on promoting himself or attacking opponents.

Boot also mentioned reading a critique from Rolling Stone that labeled the parade a misstep for Trump. “I think that’s true, but the other side is that, on its own, the military parade was a resounding success,” he concluded.
